Break Hw- Health Insurance

My family has Medicare and my mom told me that the health care isn’t that bad. So far insurance has covered mostly everything we needed. The only things that weren’t covered where some prescriptions. When I had braces, insurance covered it. When my mom gave birth to me, insurance covered it. When my sister was sick, insurance covered it. When my brother dislocated his wrist, insurance covered it. When I asked my mom if there were any heavy medical bills, she said that we were pretty well off in terms of medical care. I know this is definitely not the case for most Americans but according to my mom, we had “wonderful experiences where we were healed by loving doctors with no worries about payment.” I really don’t understand how we are so lucky especially since my parents came to the US with 2 small children and really had to work herd to make ends meet without knowing any English. When I would ask my mom how she did it she’d always answer with “hard work”.

My family’s experiences are way way way different from the experiences spoke about by Michael Moore’s SiCKO. Moore told us about the hardships that everyone who was lower than upper class faced when it came to healthcare. The hardships he mentioned should have presumed that my family suffered when they came to the US but they didn’t. They had more trouble with their neighbors than they did with money and healthcare. If you were to ask me how my family ever made it so easily on the salaries of a small restaurant chef and a back alley factory worker the only way I’d be able to answer you in with the words “hard work”.

Probably very hard work compared to most of the rest of us.
